Earlier this month, our team had the unique opportunity to travel to Paris, France for the buying trip of a lifetime! From uncovering endless antique treasures, visiting some of our all-time favorite Parisian fabric houses, and admiring the Palace of Versailles, our trip to France was no short of an adventure!
As a company rooted in French influence (Did you know La Maison is “The Home” in French?) a team trip was long overdue! We began our trip by visiting the Palace of Versailles and were inspired by the detail of French Classical architecture. When Louis XIV became king, he transformed the chateau into the extravagant palace we see today. No detail went unnoticed throughout the entire tour.
In the following days, we were thrilled to visit some of the iconic Parisian fabric houses we have worked with for years and were even able to preview new lines before they hit the American market. The French home textiles sector is rooted in family businesses handed down from generation to generation. We loved visiting Pierre Frey, De Gournay, Manuel Canovas, Holland & Sherry, Rubelli, and Dedar. All of which filled us with inspiration for current and future design projects.
Perhaps no one understands the history of the French decorative arts so well as the fabric house Pierre Frey, one of the most iconic high-end fabrics and wallcovering manufacturers. Pierre Frey was founded in the heart of Paris in 1935 and has been family run for three generations. Each design has been produced with inspiration from classical and contemporary art interpreted in a very French style. Their designs are always a favorite amongst the La Maison Atelier Design Team.
Home to some of the largest flea markets in the world, the treasures we found at the Paris fleas were amazing and we are excited to brings our favorite pieces back to you.
The marchés offered us a world of history and creativity around every corner. Some of the highlights included Vintage Louis Phillipe Mirrors, 17th Century crystal chandeliers, and a set of antique Parisian occasional chairs.
This is the beginning of many regular sourcing trips across the pond! The container of our many (MANY) spectacular finds should arrive within a few months and we cannot wait to begin styling these finds in your homes.
Make sure you are following us on Instagram @lamaisonraleigh to stay up to date with the arrival of our finds.
